So maybe they've got the right idea to target non-gamers with this reveal.

Re: Mother Forces Daughter to Wear Dowdy Thrift Store Clothes to Punish Her for Bullying

Cosby Show advice:

We're not all the same, so not all the same types of discipline will work on every one.

For instance, it's been established that corporal punishment is a piss poor method of discipline because not everyone responds to it. Some respond with more aggression, some become distrusting, others aren't affected while some others will grow up doing the same to their own children. And, of course, there are the parents who take it across the line into abuse whereas they use objects or strike in order to alleviate anger. (Though it's in my honest opinion that corporal punishment is a piss poor method of discipline, period, regardless of the individual.)

I think it should be up to the parent to decide so long as it doesn't actually cause psychological or physical harm/violence. Making your child walk in the shoes of those he or she has been bullying can be quite effective for some, while others will simply not get it.

A more pragmatic approach as opposed to an empathic one may yield better results. It's like how some people do better with verbal instructions, while others do better with visual, written or hands on. You should observe your child and try different things in order to discern what sort of discipline he/she responds to the best. Don't just cop out with the "spanking worked on me and I'm ok" or "if it works for them".

I think the above is a great example.

A friend of mine, she caught her six year old son stealing a candy bar from the store. She made him take it back, apologize, and then she took him to the police station. There, he learned that stealing was a crime, he got to see where they keep the "bad guys" and he got to sit inside one of their empty cells while a police officer talked to him. He was scared, at first, especially in the cell. But he listened and absorbed everything. It ended with some positive reinforcement in the form of getting to sit in the front seat of a cruiser, getting some stickers and taking a photo in a police hat with some of the officers there. The positive reinforcement made it something he didn't forget, nor feel any need to suppress (what kid wants to remember being hit/spanked/yelled at?) that memory. He's an adolescent now and he's turned out alright. His parents never spanked him once, never had to.

Like I said, everyone is different. These child psychologists said it themselves, it "can" backfire, but it doesn't mean it will. It's a pretty sensitive subject for a lot of people and some parents would just rather not deal with it.

Re: Grab Your Popcorn

I'll see it.
